Friday the 4th of August will see the 10th instalment of Caged Muay Thai (CMT) being held at the Logan Metro Sports Centre. CMT is the brainchild of Australian and International Muay Thai legend and all round nice guy, John Wayne PARR. Seeing the continued rise of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), PARR felt the strong desire to be involved. However, with him coming toward the end of his career and with his very limited experience with ground fighting techniques such a Ju-Jitsu and wrestling he decided that he could at least get a similar feeling by having Muay Thai fights within a caged environment. He also wanted to make the fights more exciting and more of a battle between the fighters by making them wear MMA gloves.
His creation has seen great success as fans love the non-stop and at times unpredictable action of CMT. MMA is very popular of course but on many occasions fans get frustrated when the fights go to the ground for extended periods of time. Fans want to see continuous action between two warriors giving it their all. Having personally attended CMT events I can personally vouch for the excitement around every single fight. There is no respite for the fighters once the fights begin. There’s nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. General tickets are sold through Ticketmaster.com.au. Table bookings can be made by contacting PARR’s wife and fellow Muay Thai champion, Angie via email : [email protected] or via mobile phone: 0423 343 494.
